Judy Houck
Judy is a licensed and trained Musikgarten teacher.  She uses these programs to
introduce young children to music through vocal exploration, movement and dance,
rhythmic speech and chant, dramatic play, and the playing of simple percussion
instruments.  Additionally, Judy holds Level I certification in both the Carl Orff and
Zoltan Kodaly curricula.  These approaches to music education include work in
Solfeggio, the playing of percussion and barred musical instruments, creative
movement and dance, the development of bordun and ostinato rhythmic and harmonic
elements, basic music theory and improvisation.  Her educational background includes a
Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a Dance Minor, and a Masters of Science in
Physical Education / Modern Dance.  Currently, Judy teaches music in the Frederick
County Public School system.  A twenty-one year member of the Frederick Chorale,
Judy enjoys singing in concerts.
